“This community is my family.” This was stated during an exhibition last week from a teen dad that is graduating soon (see Family Focus below for his story). Because of our personalized approach to learning he feels “at home” with us, and is excited about finishing school and starting his career, all while being an amazing dad to his daughter!
With our personalized and real world learning approach to our high school curriculum, we are finding ways to increase the relevance of the learning by asking students what they want to learn. Exhibitions are an opportunity for students to reflect on their learning, teach us about the projects they’ve been working on, and receive feedback.
Having students in the community is vital, and at this time of year, I do want to thank the community (you) for the many ways you have given to our students—both generations. Whether your support has come in the form of clothing, diapers, food, time, or a financial donation, your support of two generations of learners provides opportunities for success for not just the near future but for the next generation. And for those who recently donated as part of our Colorado Gives Day campaign… Thank you for investing in a new legacy at New Legacy!
