As we head into the holiday season, I want to thank each of you who supports New Legacy. Our two-generation (2Gen) approach is unique, and it allows us to partner with incredible organizations that help deepen our impact, one of which is Tony Grampsas Youth Services (TGYS).

Last spring, TGYS conducted a qualitative report that included interviews with our students and staff, focusing on two programs: our Parenting Education Program (PEP) and Real World Learning (RWL). Here is what two students said…

One student explained about their RWL experience, “I think the best part about coming here is that I feel more welcome here compared to the other schools. Throughout all the job shadows that I’ve been at, I got to work hands-on and experience what it is to run a business or just ideas and habits that I got to pick up if I want to be able to process and work like them.

Another student described their Parenting class as “not only helping me grow as a teen mom, but also as a student [by] allowing me to just graduate and focus on my career while they’re taking care of my kid in the same place I am.”

Through our personalized, real-world learning approach, we continue to increase the relevance of education by listening to what students want and need to learn.

Community support makes this work possible. Whether you’ve given clothing, diapers, food, time, or financial support, your investment in two generations of learners creates opportunities not only for today but for the future. And to those who gave during Colorado Gives Day: thank you for helping build a new legacy at New Legacy.
