A Year of Achievement, Growth, and Possibility
As we end another successful year at New Legacy, it’s time to reflect on the school year. We had amazing Real World Learning (RWL) opportunities in the high school, and in the Early Learning Center (ELC), we had high Teaching Strategies Gold scores for our infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The metrics show our staff doing great work with our little and big students! Not surprisingly, one of the best indicators are the students. We had an independent evaluator interview our students, and the quotes below reflect their thoughts the RWL and the ELC/parenting class.
- “My favorite part about being a student here is the opportunities you get and how much it could change your life.”
- “I used to say that I was probably not going to be anything after high school. I didn’t want to graduate or anything because I didn’t know what I wanted to do after. But after I started going to internships, I started figuring out what things I do like. It ended up not being like, Oh, I can’t do this anymore,’ [to] ‘I don’t know what I’m going to choose from all these different careers.”
- “Not now as your baby is an infant, but later on when they’re toddlers and then they grow up throughout the years, you’re going to use what [the teachers] taught you throughout those years.”
- “If you were to have a concern about your child, you could definitely go ask [the teacher] or anyone around [the ELC]. [They] will have a resource for you. That is what helped me out the most. And if my daughter would have gotten sick or something, I could definitely ask for [their] opinion, and [they] will give you resources if you need resources, or [they] will try to help you out with your child in that moment.”
- “I would say probably them helping me out with my attendance, actually making me want to come to school because if it was at any other school, I wouldn’t have even made the effort to show up.”
