We envision students and young families creating a legacy of education leading to a compelling career, community engagement, financial empowerment, and positive parenting. – New Legacy’s Vision Statement
Our vision statement shows how we are focused on the whole person, not only on their education. Education is reading, writing, math, etc. AND it is so much more. Community engagement is a two-way street where our students learn the value of helping others. They gain a sense of belonging, and they learn the importance of caring about and giving back to their community.
With Real World Learning (RWL), our students see the benefits of real-life application, making connections outside of the school building. Our RWL partners in our community welcome our students to their place of work, while other partners work directly with students at New Legacy. We’re grateful to all of our RWL partners for their commitment and collaboration.
We’re proud of the relationships we’ve built with our greater community! That commitment was also the focus of a recent interview I did with Paul Donovan at KUVO Jazz, where we talked about New Legacy’s work in the community and the importance of our Real World Learning partnerships. Listen to the interview: here.
This month’s Family Focus (below) showcases Julianna and her daughter Amy, who discovered New Legacy thanks to our relationship with Nurse-Family Partnerships. Julianna and Amy are an example that, with support and care like NFP, our students have the opportunity to thrive.
