After becoming a parent at 18 and finding it challenging to attend online school, Genesis was introduced to New Legacy through her pediatrician. Now, with graduation approaching in December, she says she has learned to keep going even when things feel difficult.

That same persistence shows up in the way Genesis advocates for Sonny. The Early Learning Center works with her to support his developmental needs and find strategies that help him stay regulated at school and at home. She especially values celebrating his milestones, from saying a new word to interacting with other students.

Genesis has also continued building experience for her own future. Through GGirls Closet and her internship with our Real-World Learning Coordinator, Bemar, she has gained hands-on experience with everything from learning how to resell clothes to day-to-day scheduling and organizing for the school. She recently presented on her real-world learning experiences at the Colorado AEC Conference and highlighted how she has earned her Child Development Associate credential. After graduation, Genesis hopes to pursue a career in counseling, potentially as a school counselor.
